Getting The Most Out of 140 Characters with Twitter Cards
Allow rich content to appear with every Tweet! This week's video discusses how Twitter Cards allow your Tweets to have a title, preview and even an image or video appear in your followers feed.
Hi everyone, welcome back to the pulp, my name is Katelyn. Today I wanted to talk about this really simple, free feature that will spice up your content on Twitter, whether you’re Tweeting your content or other people are Tweeting content from your site.
They’re called Twitter cards and they ensure that your tweet expands to a preview of rich content with a title, summary and if you wish, an image or video. This will really make your content stick out in comparison to the other Tweets flooding your followers feed.
This simple addition to your tweets can increase engagement and traffic to your site. People really respond to visual content much more than they do with the standard shortened Twitter links. And, they’re really easy to add to your website.
All you need to do is add a few specific meta tags into the head of your site, wait for Twitter to approve you’re a credible site and it’s done. You can choose the Twitter card you want directly from Twitter’s website. I’ve included a link at the bottom of this video post. Then validate your meta tags by logging into your Twitter account. It’s that easy!
So, it’s free, easy, and increases engagement and traffic to your site… why aren’t you doing this yet?
Well, that’s your tip for this week. Let me know if you have any questions of feedback in the comments below!
