A New Way to Search Real Estate on the Island of Oahu
The island of Oahu has an entirely new way to search for real estate thanks to Kahala Associates Real Estate. After joining The Enterprise Network in early 2013 they have been hard at work collaborating with the booj team to bring the most user-friendly and beautiful real estate buying experience to their community.
In June 2013, they launched a new website that not only captivates the views through stunning panoramic photography, but helps to aid customers through every step of the buying experience. Furthermore, this website was built with “the mobile mantra” in mind, meaning mobile was always put first, resulting in an entirely responsive web design. This ensures Kahala’s site looks great no matter the device.
Kahala is also the first brokerage in The Enterprise Network to have single page individual property websites (IPWs). This new view has all the same functionality and content as a multi-page IPW, only it is shown through sleek vertical scrolling. This design style is great for the user because it allows content to keep loading continuously as they scroll down the page. By employing a fixed header bar, users can also easily click to different sections of the page as they scroll.

The Kahala team knows the importance role mobile will play in the future of their online presence. On Thursday, July 25th, they launched the first real estate app of its kind on the island of Oahu. Kahala was very excited to bring this technology to their customers especially the Scope Search, which allows people to search for real estate through augmented reality. When holding the app up they can see all the nearby homes for sale and the price.

For the launch of their app and additional functionality, Kahala hosted an app launch party, #AppyHour. Earlier in the day they had a meeting to announce the release of the app to managers and agents. For the #AppyHour they gathered their agents, customers, press and bloggers together to discuss the launch of the app and all the functionality.
booj’s Managing Partner, John Sable, was onsite to give a presentation and demo of the app. He also answered questions and helped download the app onto attendees’ phones. For fun they had a photobooth with a life-size phone that allowed the attendees to be the center of the app. You can view a few photos from the event below, but be sure to check out all the event photos on their Facebook page.
This launch party was successful to increase engagement in the local community and spreading the word of their app and new functionality. What do you think of #AppyHour and how Kahala included customers and the local community?
